The SAP Digital Enterprise Journey—Discovery is a service designed to help SAP  customers discover and plan for the best possible approach to their S/4 HANA cloud implementation. By providing expert insight into the factors involved, the effort needed, the potential challenges and benefits, the SAP Digital Enterprise Journey—Discovery prepares the customer for a smooth transition to S/4HANA in the cloud. The SAP Digital Enterprise Journey—Discovery is the entry point of a set of standard services from Global Online Partners™, along the SAP Solution Lifecycle, aimed to incentivize and support the journey to becoming an SAP Digital Enterprise.

The SAP Digital Enterprise Journey—Discovery from Global Online Partners™ provides an up-front analysis of the current solution landscape to determine fit and migration paths to the SAP Digital Core. As a result of this assessment, the SAP customer will obtain a roadmap to SAP/4HANA deployment. 

When Should the Service Be Used?

The SAP® Digital Enterprise Journey is most applicable in the following cases:

  • There is an already existing system which sooner rather than later, as part of an IT Digital transformation plan or a broader cloud strategy, could be replaced by an S/4HANA System.

  • The need to ensure back-office core applications like SAP ECC efficiently integrate with and catch up with the pace of innovation of cloud-native applications.

  • Despite good reasons to move to S/4HANA, such as greater business agility, efficiency, and speed of innovation, the organization fails to put together a compelling upgrade business case.

  • Be prepared for SAP's stated end-of-life date for the SAP ERP Central Component in 2025.

Service Scope

As part of the Discovery Phase of the SAP Digital Enterprise Journey, a review of the existing IT architecture and the customer’s business requirements is conducted, and a new architecture will be proposed. As an output of this service, a high level project plan and a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) business case are created for all the deployment scenarios of SAP S/4HANA, including the following areas:

  •    Software Licensing and Infrastructure:

Account for the current customer’s software BOM, solution landscape and computing requirements to assess the available S/4HANA licensing and cloud hosting scope and pricing options

  •    On boarding & System Migration:

Confirm solution fit to ensures there are no technical limitations for the new deployment and assesses any on boarding and migration costs if existing systems are being migrated.

  •    Hosting & Application Management:

Untap the full potential of the Digital Enterprise Journey by including the entire managed services stack in the TCO projections of your S/4HANA deployment.
